Pics of my "tropical" New York City yard. I am in a USDA gardening zone 7 and I use plants that are hardy to our winters, are easy to overwinter indoors, or use as annuals to get the tropical look this far north. Please ask for my permission and give me credit if you use any of my pics! Thanks for looking!
My favorite time of the year ... it literally only happens once a year. But the fronds are HUGE! Last year I believe it was late September or October, so I'm curious if the heat will have an impact on the frond color.
It actually appears a little less red & is opening faster than the cooler months.
The growth on my Eucalyptus has been unbelievable! It's actually a Corymbia citriodora, but some stil classify it as a Euc!
This was purchased from Fantastic Gardens on June 2
Who doesnt love a little splash of color? I honestly might have as many variegated plants as I do green ones. And I will never get tired of them!
Here are a few in my yard here on Long Island, NY

Centennial kumquat
Variegated Mahoe Tree (Hibiscus tiliaceus)
