Farmingdale Plant Sale finds!

I had an incredible visit at the annual Farmingdale State College Plant sale. All the proceeds go to support the horticulture department at the college and many of the plants are student grown. and WOW do they have a great variety of plants. Check out what I got this time!

Not sure what this giant fern is, looks very much like a Kangaroo Paw. I'm thinking it is a Blue Star Fern (Phlebodium aureum)

Palm Grass (Curculigo capitulata)

Variegated Geraniums!

A GIANT farfugium japonica

Cold hardy Crinum - Crinum bulbispermum?

Excited about this Paintbrush lily (Haemanthus albiflos)

St Elmos fire Geranium!

A HUGE alocasia!

Variegated Crinum Lily

Me and my momma!

And some of the plants I didn't get but DEFINITELY appreciated!

Glamor shots ...

I got this ice cream tulip from Amsterdam!

Closeup of  Calliandra surinamensis, Pink Powderpuff Flower

Pink Mulla Mulla

Thanks for looking! (Hi Tree Fern!)

Back from the dead!

My Canna Musafolia Rubra and Calla lilies "Swartburg Giant" have reliably survived each winter planted against the sunny side of my house. Unfortunately I still do not have any signs of life from my Musa basjoo, Mekong Giant, or Hedychium

In the garage, Lantana lost every leaf but is coming back strong. No surprise there if you're a southerner reading this blog - lantana is hard to kill! Fortunately it's not an invasive up here in New York and remains a well behaved annual for now unless it's brought inside.

My Amaryllis bulb is finally going to bloom again! I honestly can't even remember the color! I believe the bulb came from my garden in Florida. It's a MASSIVE bulb and the blooms are going to be such a treat!

Canna Bengal Tiger couldn't help itself - it started growing in my cold dark garage mid winter.

Musa veltuina tried to bloom in the garage and failed, but maybe I'll get some flowers from the pups this summer. We can hope!

Musa sikkimensis ready to go in the ground when the weather ... eventually warms up

The pond area is quickly greening up!

First plant haul of the season!

These beauties come from Bloomin Haus in Holtsville... amazing people and incredible plants!!

Pink Mula Mula ... what a cool new plant to try!

Really excited about this one! It's a Pink Pom Pom flower - Calliandra surinamensis. It should bloom all summer!

I wanted to have a little fun here so instead of just petunias, I interplanted with some Persian shield, yellow dipladenia (Calypso Limone), and a pink Brazilian Plume Flower - Justicia carnea

I bought two dahlias. This one  I believe is called Go Go Pink and Yellow. Pretty interesting because it only grows 2 feet tall but has GIANT flowers. Should be really fun to watch grow. The other is a more upright yellow is tagged as firepot but I don't know if that is correct. I'll investigate when it's not 39F and raining

The pond is coming along!

Zinnia and ivy geranium for my mom

Absolutely obsessed with these Hibiscus. Bonaire Wind is the yellow and the other is Hot Lava
