Goodbye lawn and HELLO fruits!
I had a lot of requests to share what food I’m growing this year and it’s definitely enough to make a separate post.
I ripped up a piece of my lawn to make room for two raised veggie gardens, but I’m also growing plants in the ground and in containers so I can gather some insight on future Garden Guide segments

FRONT LAWN VEGGIES (all grown from seed)
Rampicante squash - growing in the former lawn. I grew this at WLTX in South Carolina and it literally ended up in the parking lot it got so big

CITRUS TREES (all of these overwintered in the garage when temperstures dropped below 30F)
Owari Satsuma - beginning to set buds now. I had about 10 fruit! They are cold hardy and taste like the “cuties” at the store

- Blackberry - I grew this in a pot for 2 years but it’s just getting too big so I put it in the ground. "Berried Treasure" Everbearing strawberries - these honestly don’t taste great, but they are pretty!
- Raspberry Anne - Just a baby! A home depot purchase. We’ll see how it does!
- Persimmon “Jiro” - smaller growing and prolific! I got it last autumn and it already had a fruit on it. Unlike the persimmon you get at the store, this has no bitterness!
- Blueberries - I’m growing these in containers with so much success. Eventually I will put them in the ground.
- Lil's fig.
- Grapes - I mentioned that one in my previous post. It’s my first year and I’m so excited to see a few flower buds growing on it!
