Pond area, Philodendron cortadum is really shining!
Pics of my "tropical" New York City yard. I am in a USDA gardening zone 7 and I use plants that are hardy to our winters, are easy to overwinter indoors, or use as annuals to get the tropical look this far north. Please ask for my permission and give me credit if you use any of my pics! Thanks for looking!

April 22 - All the tropical plants are out for the season!
It was a fun Earth Day bringing out all my plants for the season. Such a fun time of the year! My largest Plumeria has 7 flower inflorescences which is the most I ever remember seeing. It's going to be fun year!

As of April 19th ... the tropical plants are outside for 2025!
The poinsettia I got last November is still as red as ever!
And a few spring blooms!

Veggie Garden mid April
Broccoli Rabe, Purple Cauliflower, and loads of Kale. Started these seeds in February and planted them in the garden bed in mid March (about 5 weeks ago). The broccoli rabe is flowering so that is time to pick. Good timing too because I have squash and watermelon to plant!

Crocus are looking gorgeous!
I planted 100 crocus by my pond last autumn & I'm loving the way they came out! It's a very shady spot & sprouted so late into March that I didn't even think they were going to pop up at all!
