Plumeria Jenny opens it's first blooms on Staten Island

It's been years since my Plumeria Jenny has bloomed! Last year I dug it up, chopped half the roots back, and replaced the soil. It seems like plumerias respond very well to this treatment! Everytime I've done this, it's been a huge success!

Star Dahlia is in bloom!

I have one on Staten Island and another in my garden on Long Island. Both are blooming now. Such a pretty flower!

Passiflora caerulea Blue Passion Flower is in bloom!

This plant is very marginally hardy in my parent's zone 7 yard in Staten Island NY. Ive had them survive mild winters (and spread vigorously!) but last year it did not bloom and I have lost it entirely in years past.

After a mild year though it's out competing my American Wisteria! The first blooms of the season opened this week and it looks like more will be on the way!

Interestingly, the blooms only seem to appear on the vines that dangle downward. I've noticed this every time I've grown this plant.

Plumeria Jackie opens it's first blooms on Long Island

This pagoda-type plumeria from Jungle Jacks has been a reliable bloomer and has fantastic form. I purchased this along with Inca Gold in 2017 when I was living in Florida. It's bloomed nearly every year and is not too large. A great plant!

Plumeria Melody just gets better and better!

Bananas, blooms, and pretty leaves - Mid July on Long Island

I love this time of the year. Hibiscus tillaceus looks so nice in front of the cannas

The lilies smell SO good at night

But it's totally overshadowed by the giant banana plant!

Some perspective

Love this view! Musa sikkimensis

Mickey Mouse Elephant ears!

Onto some edibles!

Cucuzza squash

Beets! I started these seeds on March 16, so they took about 4 months to get to this point.

A few blooms around my parents yard

The mandevilla is having such a nice year!

\

The subtle white stripes are really unusual

The windmill palms look great & Plumeria Jenny is almost ready to bloom after a hard root pruning last year. Pretty Princess bloomed inside the house.

My medican petunias survived the winter. It's blooming too!

Gardenia Summer snow blooming so nicely after an easy winter!

The Cannas survived in the garage. I love this planter!

Musa Ae Ae is finally coming back to life! 2 month update

I got this plant in October 2023. It had a really rough transition back outside, but is finally hitting it's stride. This is a tough banana to grow, but it's a dream plant of mine!
